New Year!

Happy New Year everybody!

Who is making resolutions? I know I am. Who's with me to recommit to making healthy choices? To moving more and eating less? Portion control. Fewer carbs, less fat, and, sadly, less wine. 

We've moved into our new place. It's a good space, but the circumstances are just so wretched that it's hard to enjoy the newness and I'm having trouble settling in. I was a little late to work this morning because I have to adjust to a new morning routine. In our old place, our master bedroom had it's own bathroom (like most normal places), but here, the one bathroom that we share (which is another issue entirely) is at the opposite end of the house. So going back and forth as I tend to do just adds precious minutes and seconds to the time between getting out of bed and out the door. There's what we call an ante-room outside our bedroom with two huge walk in closets. We plan to put a vanity in there for me which will help matters.  Another stall in my departure is that our yard is not fenced in (we're out in the country now), so to let the dogs out, I have to actually go out there with them, make sure they do their business, and let them back in. At the old house, I could let them out, get ready for five minutes, and let them back in. Much more efficient. 

But all in all, it's a positive thing that we moved. My amazing husband is unpacking and getting us settled while I spent the first two days just basking in the fast that there was nothing I HAD to do once I set up our bed, my nightstand, and located enough clothes for work this week. I'm back at work today and adjusting to the new, longer commute. It's not too bad, but we'll see how well I'm able to find my way home in the dark after work today.
